Tethered is a piece woven by Sand, and inspired by their rigid heddle study group to use alternative materials. Sand feels strongly that we need to look more closely at how our electronic dependency results in a huge amount electronic waste. Such waste is very difficult to deal with, and yet we are increasingly dependent on newer and ever faster ways of staying connected to our reality.
The weaving cloth is a combination of mercerised cotton and handdyed tencel. the cords, etc., were woven in to the cloth as the weaving progressed. The resulting cloth has been mounted on a stable masonite board, which itself was salvaged from a former worksite. Comes with hanging hardware installed.
