Something Old, Something New!

The Spring to Summer transition has been really busy here at Stonewater Arts! Lots of new plans are taking shape; if you wander around the site you might notice that we have a bit of a new look. There are many other changes in the works, so stay tuned and check back often!

In the Something New department, we will be offering handspun yarns in the shop very soon! All yarns listed are handpsun by us in our home studio and will feature fibers from all over the world! Going forward many of these carefully crafted yarns will also be spun from fibers we process in our own studio, from carding to dyeing to spinning!  Here is a first picture of a yarn on offer:

This is a chunky weight skein, with 3 plies of soft merino, and one ply of pure silk! Look for yarn listings to start later this month!
In the Something Old department, we are planning to freshen up more than just the website! Be sure to watch for some old friends from our stock to become new items as we move forward with new ways to use and wear handwoven fabric. It's so exciting to re-vision things!

If you have any questions about our products, or want to inquire about custom work, please do drop us an email! We really love working with our customers to create a special item for them!

Rock on, Summer!

Welcome Summer!

Summer is here! We find that post-Memorial Day every year feels like Summer, and certainly this year with the heat arriving on Memorial Day itself is no exception!

We had a bit of a break through May. The Nikkei Matsuri Festival we did at the end of April was fantastic and we are definitely planning to return to it next year!  Immediately after the festival Kaye headed to England for a fun trip to see family and celebrate a family wedding, while Sand held down the home front and kept our dog, Dougal entertained.  He's a Dogo Argentino and needs a ton of walking and interaction, so he keeps us moving!  You'll be sure to see him in photos of our home studio.

Now that we are finishing up May and heading into June, we are busy back at the looms, spinning wheels, and sewing machines!  June is Pride month, and as a queer-owned business we are very invested in the celebration of diversity.  Pictured here is one of our Pride cowls, handwoven in our studio using 100% mercerised cotton, easy case and perfect for summer fun!

Also, be sure to watch the store for new items coming in June, such as a line of handspun yarns crafted by Sand, and more sewing crafted items by Kaye. So many new surprised we want to share with you!

Welcome to Stonewater Arts! We hope you will enjoy our offerings here at Stonewater Arts!  We feel called to create beautiful items for you to enjoy, pieces of art that you can wear and display. All of our work is meant to be used; we feel strongly that art is an ever changing verb describing both the world around us as well as the world we wish to see.

We will be creating pieces with special meaning, and sharing those stories with you as we craft.  Please enjoy!
